About us 

Tisch MSRCNY is an independent research laboratory in New York, NY led by Saud A. Sadiq, MD, FAAN, dedicated to finding the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis (MS). The position represents an exciting opportunity to join a reputable team of scientists and research assistants conducting research ranging from understanding basic mechanisms of disease to translational studies in MS and ALS. 

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Research Technician to support preclinical research in our AAALAC-accredited animal facility. The role centers on rodent surgeries, behavioral testing, and tissue processing, working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and senior scientists. This full-time position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in vivo technical support for preclinical studies in novel animal models of MS & ALS
  • Handle and train mice for motor/behavioral assays (e.g. grip strength, rotarod)
  • Assist with CNS surgeries (anesthesia induction/monitoring, sterile prep, peri-/post-operative care)
  • Perform rodent CNS surgeries independently after training and competency sign-off by the PI
  • Conduct terminal procedures including cardiac perfusion and tissue dissection 
  • Process tissue (fixation, cryo-sectioning); maintain accurate sample labeling and chain-of-custody
  • Record and maintain detailed surgical, post-op, and behavioral data
  • Maintain surgical suites, inventories, and equipment; ensure compliance with IACUC protocols, SOPs, and biosafety standards 
  • Collaborate across the team and perform other lab-related duties as necessary

 

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Neuroscience or a related field 
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience with rodent in vivo studies 
  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in rodent handling, restraint, dosing, and necropsy. Experience with rodent CNS surgeries and dissections. Familiarity with anesthesia and aseptic technique in survival surgery.
  • Eligibility: Applicant must be eligible to work in the United States

Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Investigator position at the Research Associate or Assistant Research Scientist level, depending on experience. We are looking for a passionate scientist to lead innovative research projects in MS with focus including, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Neuroimmunology of MS 
  • Experimental animal models of demyelinating disease and neurodegeneration to investigate the mechanisms of disease progression in MS.
  • Pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived 2D and 3D (organoid) models to explore glial and neuronal phenotypes associated with multiple sclerosis

Research Assistant - Start Summer 2026

The Tisch Multiple Sclerosis Research Center of New York (Tisch MSRCNY) is seeking motivated and talented individuals to join our team as a Research Assistant.

This position offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in biomedical research. Ideal candidates are individuals who have completed their undergraduate studies and are looking for a valuable research experience for 2 years before entering graduate or medical school. Research Assistants will work closely with principal investigators in a collaborative, dynamic, and cutting-edge research environment.

Position Overview

As a Research Assistant, you will engage in a variety of research activities, including both hands-on laboratory work and data analysis. You will contribute to ongoing studies aimed at understanding and treating multiple sclerosis (MS), working under the direct supervision of experienced researchers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Laboratory Techniques: Perform a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques including PCR, western blotting, ELISAs, flow cytometry, and aseptic cell culture.
  • Animal Models: Conduct project-specific work with rodent models, including surgeries, behavioral assessments, tissue processing, and histology.
  • Human Sample Handling: Process and bank human biological samples for ongoing studies.
  • Data Management: Document experimental methods, collect and analyze data, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Literature Review: Conduct literature searches, summarize findings, and present relevant articles during lab meetings.
  • Collaboration & Networking: Participate in weekly lab meetings, journal clubs, and contribute to international research conferences.
  • General Lab Maintenance: Assist with general lab tasks such as inventory management, equipment upkeep, and reagent preparation.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences (or closely related field). Priority will be given to candidates graduating in May 2026.
  • Experience: Previous laboratory or clinical research experience is required.
  • Commitment: Must be available for a full-time, 2-year commitment.
  • Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
